5 Black Widow Character Names In Marvel Solo Movie

Marvel Cinematics Universe or commonly abbreviated as MCU is one of the most popular film series in this decade. Infinity Saga is the first part of this MCU series, starting with Iron Man in 2008 and ending with Spiderman Far From Home, which just aired mid-2019 ago. After the end of Infinity Saga, the MCU starts a new chapter that will begin with a solo film from our favorite femme fatale, Black Widow. 

Unlike the avengers movie where all the characters meet up, usually a solo movie will only feature one or two superhero characters as the focus of the story plus new characters.

Here are 5 characters from the Marvel comics that appear in the solo film of Black Widow. Check it out!

1. TASKMASTER

Taskmaster

Taskmaster is Natasha's main enemy. Speaking of Taskmaster, the villain who is identical to the skull mask has often appeared in cartoon and video game series. Anthony "Tony" master is gifted with an extraordinary talent that is the ability to mimic the movements he sees without requiring practice. Because of this talent Tony was recruited as an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, it turns out Tony's unique abilities have long-term side effects. 

The more he remembers his skills and movements, his personal memories will slowly be forgotten. Even so, Tony still insisted on using his power continuously which finally made him amnesia. Tony who does not remember his own identity finally rebelled from S.H.I.E.L.D and became an independent soldier with the codename "Taskmaster“. 

2. BLACK WIDOW (YELENA BELOVA)

Yelena Belova is said to be replacing Natasha Romanoff as the new Black Widow in the upcoming MCU films. Yelena first appeared in Inhumans comic # 5 (1999). Yelena is a spy trained in the same place as Natasha, the Red Room. Yelena is practically Natasha's junior, after completing her training, Yelena also gets the codename "Black Widow" just like Natasha.

Yelena is a naive girl and too attached to her mission, she is also obsessed with the title "Black Widow" and wants to prove that she is the only one who deserves that name. After Natasha's death in the comics, Yelena positioned herself as Black Widow and replaced Natasha in the Avengers.

3. IRON MAIDEN (MELINA VOSTOKOFF)

The name Melina Vostokoff appears in the line of characters in the film Black Widow. This character played by the beautiful Rachel Weisz. First appeared on Marvel Fanfare # 11 (1983), Melina Vostokoff is the identity of a supervillain named Iron Maiden.

Iron Maiden is also known for being the mortal enemy of Black Widow. She has also been a member of Thunderbolts. Like other Black Widow enemies, Iron maiden does not have superhuman strength like Thor or Thanos, her power comes from empty martial arts and iron armor that protects her body. 

4. RED GUARDIAN (ALEXEI SHOSTAKOV)

Who is this Red Guardian? The short answer, he is Captain America of the Soviet Union. They wear identical costumes, both have a star logo on the chest and make the most striking. They both use shields to fight. First appearing in the Avengers comic # 43 (1967), Alexei Shostakov is a mainstay pilot of Soviet troops who has been named a war hero thanks to his skills in controlling fighter aircraft.

During the cold war of 1950, the Soviet Union decided that they needed a Captain America figure who could be a leader and motivate Soviet troops, and Alexei was recruited. After faking his death, Aleixei was secretly trained by the KGB to become a super soldier named the Red Guardian. In the comic, Alexei is also the husband of Natasha Romanof the Black Widow. 

5. BLACK WIDOW (NATASHA ROMANOV)

Black Widow is a comic character that is quite popular even before appearing on the big screen, Black Widow herself has long been introduced in MCU through the film Iron Man 2. Since then she has become the superhero who appears most often in cross-over films and other superhero solo films.

The film is setting the time before she joined the Avengers. What happened to her in Avengers Endgame has nothing to do with this film. For those of you who have watched Avengers Endgame, Natasha's fate must end tragically after she voluntarily sacrificed herself to get a soul stone.
